Gallery - “Ballroom of Broken Hearts”.

Every time I hear this song, it makes me think of something I once read.

“Don’t waste time waiting for ‘The One’. They’ll come into your life when you stop looking for them and start doing what you love.”

Catalyst - The Gallery

“You once lit me up like a cigarette and then you burned me down and now there’s nothing left. You were the one who put a spark to this. You were the gasoline, you were the catalyst.”

The opening lines to the first track “Catalyst” on The Gallery’s EP titled Come Alive, which was released earlier this year. These four guys are from Texas - this further proves that a lot of good non-country bands come out of that state. There’s already Kitten, The Canvas Waiting, Young the Giant, and now The Gallery!

Come Alive only consists of five tracks, but they are five very well done tracks. Each is wonderful in it’s own way, none of them can be considered “throw-away” or “filler” tracks. The EP actually reminds me a lot of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. I don’t know if it’s their style or the lead singer’s voice or what… I just call them the new Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. :)

Good, good stuff.

Festivals, new songs, and plans…

Hello all,

Once again, after a bit of a delay, we’re posting with somewhat of an update.

Since we last posted, about the release of “Come Alive”, we played several great festivals including SXSW, FMF, and Sunfest to promote the EP. We played five sets over the course of four days in Austin, and had a blast for our first time at SXSW (it’s nuts!), and hope to make it back for years to come.

FMF (Florida Music Fest) in Orlando was also a great time, we saw some great friends and played some cool sets.

Having spent a good amount of time as a band in West Palm Beach, and never actually attending, Sunfest was a lot of fun to play. We had a ton of friends out for our early set and hung around for MGMT later that night.

Following the festivals, we got the opportunity to record a couple songs, so we spent some time writing and demoing about five new ideas before heading out to Southern California. And so here we are in Thousand Oaks about to finish our week of recording. We’re super excited about these new songs, and where we’re headed. We’ll be heading back to MA for a few months, playing shows in New England and the surrounding area so keep an eye out for some new shows being added.

Take care. We love you all.

On this day in Rolling Stone cover history…

rollingstone:

March 2 - On this day in 1972, the cover of Rolling Stone featured a Milton Glaser illustration of Bob Dylan. Inside, the cover story was part one of a two-part excerpt from Anthony Scaduto’s book, Bob Dylan: A Biography.

Be sure to go vote in the “Do You Wanna be a Rock & Roll Star?” contest and help us pick the first unsigned band or artist to be featured on the cover. Check out music and information about all 16 artists and rate your favorites on RollingStone.com.

Rolling Stone is one of the most iconic, long-standing publications out there, and they’re putting on a very cool contest for bands to win the opportunity to get on the cover of their legendary magazine. Our friends in The Gallery are one of 16 bands in the running. They’re extra awesome…

Last night through this new Rolling Stone ‘Choose the Cover of Rolling Stone’ contest that they are running I discovered the most amazing band.

The Gallery. I don’t even know how I would describe them- just listen for yourself.

I’ve been listening to anything I can by them even though they don’t have much.

Go to this link and listen to Catalyst. Its my favorite. You should probably vote to. Whoever wins gets on the cover, to play Bonnaroo, and a record deal.

That song up there is called: Ballroom of Broken Hearts
